Award-Winning Media Room Renovation in Potomac, Maryland

Homeowner Challenge:

The owner of this lovely home in suburban Maryland requested an entirely new design concept for their media room to maximize natural light and open up views to the rear patio, pool and gardens.  The original room was designed to be dark to maintain low light levels for viewing their movie screen television, but closed off from views of the back yard. The challenge was to maintain the same multi-use function of the room while entirely transforming the atmosphere and lighting of the space.

The BOWA Solution:

The rear wall of the room was opened up to allow light and views by installing three pairs of custom French doors with attached motorized room-darkening shades to control light as needed.  A fireplace made of river stone was constructed as a focal point and features a plasma screen television mounted overhead. The décor and furnishings complete the new room with the use of natural materials and colors evocative of the landscapes of Colorado. The family now enjoys a light-filled, comfortable and richly inviting space for entertainment.

Project Highlights:

  • Neo-Rocky Mountain décor theme
  • All seating oriented around the fireplace and television
