Georgian-Style Home Renovation in Leesburg, Virginia

Homeowner Challenge:

The homeowners of this breathtaking Loudoun County, Virginia estate had a distinct vision for the updates to their home, originally built in 1988. They wanted to integrate new spaces that fit in seamlessly with the existing classic architecture. An upstairs living space and entertainment room and separate accommodations for three Wheaton Terriers was desired by the family.

The BOWA Solution:

The design build team at BOWA created a private upper-level living room from an existing rooftop terrace. It features a wall of glass windows and a new balcony with vistas of the Virginia countryside.  A cozy atmosphere was accomplished in the new addition by using wood beams and plank treatment on the ceiling and window frames.  The main-level renovation included a modern country kitchen and a custom-designed mudroom for their beloved pets.  On the exterior, columns and brick arches were constructed using repurposed bricks from the existing home to visually integrate the old with the new.  The outcome was striking and fit perfectly into the current design of the home.
