Universal Design Master Suite Renovation in McLean, VA

Homeowner Challenge:

The master bathroom of this McLean, Virginia ranch-style home featured a dated bath area with awkward embellishments that crowded the space visually and spatially. Additionally, the bedroom suffered from a full wall of reach-in closets with two sets of bi-fold doors, which was busy on the outside and cramped on the inside.

The BOWA Solution:

Keeping to the existing footprint, the master bath renovation features clean lines, beautiful fixtures and custom details that better meet the owner’s needs. In the bedroom, the reach-in closets were replaced with a single, pocket-door entry into an expansive walk-in closet that eliminated the need for additional dresser storage.  Removing the extra furniture and decluttering that wall opens the entire room up visually, and created a nice space for a modest media center.  Applying the principles of universal design to this master suite renovation helps to ensure the homeowners can live comfortably and safely in their home for years to come.

Project Highlights:

  • Glass shower enclosure featuring custom tile mosaic, bench and technology
  • Sculptural tub and heated floors lend a spa-like feel to master bath
  • Walk-in master closet with customized storage solutions and beautiful finishes
