Porch Renovation in Great Falls, VA Features Spectacular Stone Fireplace

Homeowner Challenge:

This homeowner’s second project with BOWA was for a screened porch and renovation of existing deck and gazebo.  One ‘must have’ feature for the porch was a double-sided stone fireplace that could be used from the outside screened porch or the inside family room.

The BOWA Solution:

The spacious porch is enhanced by a soaring bead board ceiling, custom lighting and fans, while custom wood moldings are carried from the interior to the exterior spaces for a unified look.  From the screened-in room, there is access onto a new, adjoining covered porch which is perfect for al fresco dining and entertaining and features a staircase down to the rear yard.

Project Highlights:

• Metal roof on screened porch addition incorporated throughout the design and unifies new to existing spaces
• Metal framed round window added for architectural interest
• All windows in existing home replaced for updated look and energy efficiency
• Smaller deck added on one side of home for balance and aesthetics
• Glass door on both sides of fireplace provide abundant natural light into family room
