Bethesda Condo Renovation to Create Relaxing Retreat

Homeowner Challenge:

Ready to downsize from her Bethesda house, our client wanted a smaller space that would be easier to take care of by herself but didn’t want to sacrifice the comforts of her single-family home. She purchased this unit for the wonderful location, but it was clear the layout would not be conducive to her lifestyle. A previous owner had added a closet that completely blocked the main hallway to the master bedroom, making the unit a maze of doors to get from one end to the other. Also, the master bathroom left much to be desired as it had not been updated since it was built in 1990.

The BOWA Solution:

For this Bethesda condo renovation, the first thing addressed was the awkward floorplan the previous owner had created. BOWA removed the closet that blocked the natural flow of the hallway and moved the master bedroom door to its original location at the end of the reopened corridor. This restored an easy flow from the front of the unit to the back and allowed more sunlight to pour in from the large windows throughout the unit. In the master bathroom, the bulky jetted tub was removed and replaced with a sleek soaking tub and the entire space was upgraded to a luxurious, contemporary aesthetic better suited for the client.

Project Highlights:

  • Contemporary countertops and induction cooktop updated in the kitchen.
  • Hardwood flooring installed throughout the entire unit.
  • New lighting in living area, kitchen, and dining room.
