Kirstein Joins Board of Directors for The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter

BOWA Principal Committed to Promoting Classical Design in the Region

McLean, Va. – BOWA, bowa.com, an award-winning residential design and construction firm specializing in renovations ranging from owners’ suites and kitchens to whole-house and whole-condo remodels, is pleased to announce that Steve Kirstein, one of the firm’s principals, has joined the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA).

The ICAA advances the appreciation and practice of traditional building, including design, urban planning, adaptive use, landscape architecture, and historic preservation, and is the leading national non-profit representing a network of like-minded practitioners and enthusiasts. One of fifteen chapters nationwide, the Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter includes the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, and dedicates all its income to promoting and preserving the practice, understanding, and appreciation of classical design through its educational programs. Additionally, the chapter’s John Russell Pope Awards recognizes excellence in classical and traditional practice throughout the region.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Steve Kirstein as a new member of the Board of Directors,” said Peter Miller, President of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. “He brings a depth of experience and wonderful energy to our group. I look forward to working with Steve to continue to elevate architectural literacy in our region.”

Steve Kirstein Kirstein’s involvement in The ICAA is another example of BOWA’s commitment to giving back to the community.  In fact, several of BOWA’s executives hold or have held board positions with non-profit organizations, such as Potomac Conservancy, Mosby Heritage Foundation, Autism Speaks, JSSA, McLean Project for the Arts and others.  BOWA continues a tradition of generous charitable giving in the community, offers paid time off for charity work, and has sponsored hundreds of charity events throughout the metropolitan area.

“Joining The ICAA combines my life’s work as a builder with my passion for helping the next generation,” said Kirstein. “We’re fortunate here in the Washington, DC area where there are countless opportunities to develop an appreciation for classical architecture.  I’m honored to be able to help further the organization’s mission as well as learn from other enthusiasts and colleagues.”
