Excerpt: “It all started with a plan to expand a garage and add a guest room onto a Colonial-style home in Potomac, Maryland. But as such plans tend to do, this small-scale project soon morphed into something much bigger: a massive, whole-house renovation that added to the 40-year old residence some 4,500 square feet of living space.
