McLean Luxury Renovation with a Family Focus

Homeowner Challenge:

This McLean family loved their property for many years, appreciating the location, yard, and overall aesthetic. However, over time they realized they faced significant challenges with the functionality of key spaces, including the kitchen, family room, and primary bedroom and bathroom. The existing layout was too tight for their family’s active lifestyle, particularly in the combined kitchen and family room. They also felt the home lacked sufficient lighting, with only a few recessed lights in scattered locations. Overall, they desired an elevated look with improved functionality and updated finishes throughout, as well as more natural light in the rooms.

The BOWA Solution:

BOWA and designer, Waterlily Interiors, addressed these concerns with a comprehensive, whole house renovation. The team renovated the kitchen, butler’s pantry and dining room to make the areas more spacious and functional, while incorporating a more elevated and cohesive design. The family room was transformed by redesigning the window and door layouts to enhance natural light, creating better flow throughout the space and adding a custom designed and built marble fireplace. The primary suite and bathroom were renovated to create a spa-like space with White Cliff Quartz countertops and brass hardware. A new lighting plan was implemented with recessed lighting throughout the home, complemented by decorative chandeliers for added visual interest. BOWA also introduced new spaces, including a library, a game room with custom built-ins to display the family’s Lego collection, a custom pet washing station and sleeping enclosure, and a pool cabana with fun, functional design features. European White Oak flooring and updated paint and wallpaper helped to create a luxurious yet inviting look throughout the home.
