Master Bathroom Renovation with Plenty of Storage in Arlington, Virginia

Homeowner Challenge:

This first-floor master bathroom was originally large, cold and cave-like. One homeowner didn’t even use this shower because of the lack of lighting and warmth, opting instead to use the second-floor bathroom. The challenge of this remodel was maximizing the natural light while creating a more usable, desirable space with plenty of storage.

The BOWA Solution:

The BOWA In-House Design team created a floorplan that enhances the natural light from the existing sklylight and improves the use of the space. By removing the tub and changing the orientation of the shower, BOWA was able to capitalize on natural light flow. With the addition of more overhead lighting and heated flooring, the space is now warm, bright and efficient. The removal of the large, jetted tub also allowed for added storage, and the gray marble tile to the ceiling creates a dramatic spa-like environment.

Project Highlights:

  • Custom lighted niches to display homeowner’s art collection
  • Conversion of an awkward door to the backyard into a beautiful window
  • Additional storage space created with custom cabinetry at the vanity and shower area counter space
